Gloves and stockings instead of a whole outfit, does that work?

I am not ready to be head to toe in anything, and I am not sure I ever will be. But I love latex gloves and I have been eyeing up stockings, and I wondered whether that is a legitimate way to do this or whether it looks like half an outfit.

The picture in my head is ordinary clothes, a normal dress, with latex gloves and stockings doing the work. To me that sounds better than a full outfit I would feel self conscious in all night.

Does that work in practice? Would I look underdressed at an event where everyone else has gone all in? And are gloves and stockings easier or harder to wear than the bigger pieces, practically speaking?

It works very well and it is a proper look rather than a training version of one. Gloves in particular go with almost anything and they read as deliberate. The one thing I would say is to commit: two or three latex elements that clearly belong together look intentional, whereas a single glove-length item with everything else fighting it can look like an accident.
