The dress fits everywhere except across the chest

Question

Saved up for a proper latex dress and it arrived last week. The waist is right, the hips are right, the length is right, and across the chest it is noticeably too tight. Not undoable, but I can feel it pulling and I do not think I could sit through a whole evening in it.

I measured myself and used their size chart, so I do not think I did anything obviously wrong, but clearly something is off.

Can this be altered at all? I know latex is not fabric and you cannot just let a seam out, but I do not know whether panels can be added or whether this is simply a dress I got wrong. Any experience welcome, I am quite gutted about it.

Latex has no give in the way fabric does, and it cannot be let out, so the honest answer is that you cannot alter this the way a seamstress would alter a dress. What a repairer can sometimes do is open a seam and insert a panel, which changes the look of the piece but does genuinely make it wearable. Whether that is worth it depends on how much you love the dress.

Before you go to that, check whether it is the bust measurement or the placement. A very common problem with off-the-peg latex is that the shaping sits an inch or two too high or low for the person wearing it, which feels exactly like being too small even when the measurement is right. If the tightness is above or below where you actually are, a panel will not solve it.
