How does everyone actually get home afterwards?

First proper event coming up and I have thought carefully about the outfit and not at all about the logistics of the rest of the night.

The venue is an hour from me. I do not drive. So the realistic options are getting there and back on the last train, or a taxi I cannot really afford, and either way I am going to be out in public at both ends.

Do people travel in it, or is changing at the venue the norm? Does everywhere have somewhere to change? And what do you take for the journey home, because I assume arriving home at two in the morning with a bag of damp latex is a situation with its own rules.
