Does latex actually get as sweaty as everyone says?

Honest question before I commit to a full outfit rather than one careful piece. Everyone warns that latex is boiling to wear because it does not breathe at all. Is that a genuine problem, or just something one person said once and everybody now repeats? I run warm at the best of times and I do not fancy spending an evening feeling like a boil-in-the-bag dinner. Does more skin coverage make it noticeably worse, and is there anything you actually do about it, or do you just accept the heat as the price of admission? Keen to hear from people who wear it for hours at a time.
