Is buying secondhand latex a bad idea or just a bargain?

New to this and slightly winded by what a full outfit costs. There is a lot of preloved latex about at a fraction of the price and I cannot work out whether that is a sensible route in or a beginner’s mistake.

My worries, in order. Whether age is something you can see in a photograph. Whether there is damage that cannot be undone. And whether there is a hygiene objection that people are too polite to say out loud.

For those of you who buy secondhand: what do you ask before you commit, and what would make you walk away?
